Shortly after Blackmane reentered the room to find the heroes standing over the dismembered devil, a small troop of soldiers pounds up to the door. The leader tells Blackmane that the Emperor has ordered that they should all bring the ‘body’ to the throne room. Two soldiers take up the body of the devil as the rest escort Blackmane, Duule, Finkle, Victor, and Nicholas to the throne room.
Blackmane, in his hybrid-beast form standing nearly as tall as Duule, takes one of the ragged remnants of the shirt he was wearing and ties it around his torso where the line from the devil’s tail is showing livid bruising and maybe even getting worse. The party enters the throne room and approaches the throne. Oq rises up from the throne and floats over to the devil as the soldiers drop it and step away. He examines it silently for a few moments and then, as he turns away from it, one of his eyestalks turns back and emits a beam of energy that instantly incinerates the corpse even more thoroughly than Finkle’s spell did for the traitors, and without the burned flesh smell either.
Oq settles back onto the throne and says, “I was on the throne when that was summoned. Minister Shuriah’s holdings here in Karnas are forefit. All within must be purged. The area is being cordoned off as we speak. Blackmane, I would normally delegate that duty to you, however that wound you are so carefully ignoring is infernal. You will go to the priests so they may cleanse it. As the process will no doubt leave you incapacitated, I must turn to another to purge the blight in my city. Emissaries, as you have proven valiant in your encounter with the devil, I would ask you to deal with this problem for me.”
