The last of the shroud finally disappeared into Erima’s mouth. For several minutes she stayed locked in position there looking as light absorbing black as the spawn. Her and Isis, now as big as a horse, still as statues. Finally, the darkness faded away. Aillur’s symbol blazed out brightly even in the sun and seemed to be forcing the darkness away. As it did so, Isis’ eyes began to glow red. Tybalt carefully drew Erima away from Isis, prepared to defend her from the companion he suspected she might love more than himself. The others in the courtyard were equally unsure of the feline’s disposition. Erima collapsed into Tybalt’s arms as soon as he pulled on her. She was not unconscious, but neither was she coherent yet. Laying her carefully aside, Tybalt stepped between her and Isis. The others ranged around the courtyard, prepared for anything. Finally, Isis seemed to focus upon her surroundings, noting everyone and their positions about her. She then turned to Tybalt and said, “We are Isis. Isis and the Shroud are one. We will wait for Mistress to recover.” With that she lays down facing Erima, head on her forepaws, tail twitching at the tip, and ears tracking everyones movements.
Everyone relaxes slightly and begin to look around. The keep faces west and the setting sun blazing upon the horizon is quite definitely the most beautiful sight any of them has ever seen, even Ulkraga. After a moment she looks up to the only star visible in the dusk sky. “That strange,” she says, “Brightstar not bright enough.” Pointing up to it, she continues, “It was as bright in my sky as moons were behind the Shroud.”
At that moment, Erima stirs around and looks at Isis, “My you’re a big kitty now, aren’t you?” With that she holds her hand out to Isis who belly crawls over to her to nuzzle the outstretched fingers. The fur on Isis is even softer and thicker than before, but the hide underneath is as solid as a gemstone. As she caresses her beloved feline she says to the others, "The war is nearly over. The elves have pulled back into their capitol city and are trying to fortify it. " Then with a strange twist to her features, she says, “And there is a giant crystal egg on the other side of the world.”
