After recovering from thier ordeals, the party emerges from the keep to be greeted by the sight of Lt. Nicholas and his soldiers formed up inside the gate in a double line to either side of the pathway. Outside the gate, a crowd has gathered, held in check by a double line of Karnasian troops stretching from the gate all the way to the Capitol Palace gates. Lord Blackmane stands just outside the keep to escort the party to the palace. He indicates that the party should not speak until they reach the palace and His Highness Oq. The crowds don’t seem to be excited, just curious about this strange procession.
When they reach the throne room, they find the prisoner woman and her two sons there as well. Oq greets them as heroes, offers his condolences on the loss of their other companions, and basically pumps them for all the information on what happened inside. Apparently the rescued prisoners have already been debriefed.
The family is introduced as Atanma, the mother, Baric, the elder son, and Thrail. This triggers a memory for Ulkraga of a famous priest of Aillur said to be the only such priest allowed to found a church in the province of Karnas. His name was Thrail the Unblinded.
