And So It Came To Pass. The world called Darken was returned to it’s proper name, “Draken.” Dragons flew the skies again. The weather would remain unsettled for decades as the planet retreated from the ice age that had gripped it due to the Shroud. The nascent New Empire would take a few years to become established. In fact, the day of it’s re-founding turned out to be the same day as the ‘Decennial Affirmation’ that the elves had followed so religiously throughout the time of darkness. So it was adopted to remain the tradition of the New Empire. That New Empire would establish itself over all the lands east of the Dragonspine to the Seafolk Isles, and from Ice to Ice. As the icecaps receded that meant the New Empire came to cover over one quarter of the world’s surface.
Haedran the Golden would learn that he was the oldest surviving dragon in the world. So he established himself as the leader of all the beings west of the Dragonspine. He wouldrule over those lands for a century before age finally claimed him and his youngest child inherited it. Edranah immediately named the lands for her father. The Kingdom of Haedran then established formal relations with the New Empire. War became relegated to petty squabbles between lordlings within the two nations which between them ruled over two-thirds of the planet. The mercenary companies became Imperial Peacekeeping Legions. Especially heated were the border clashes between Thangar and Barakash. Relations between the two provinces soured when extensive secret mining operations by Barakash undermined the stability of the northern fifth of the Great Cliff and plateau above it, this resulted in The Collapse, creating a thousand square miles of wasteland now called The Rubblefield.
The beginnings of the New Empire would be governed over by Lord Rashemar I. After only 30 years of ruling however, he abdicated the throne in favor of his son Lord Rashemar II. He is popularly quoted as mumbling on his way out about a deal with a dragon to fulfill. At the same time, the Abbess of the High Church of Fallscliff, and Chosen of Aillur, turned over her position, if not her divine favor, to her daughter. The High Lady Charlotte Rashemar and her brother would work closely with the churches of Eiredore and Karnas to establish the Pantheistic Church of the New Empire. This Church maintains shrines to all of the gods of Draken. Including two obscure gods that never see visitors to their shrines. Reece, The Record, as suggested by one scribe Darvid Harrolan. And the Dragonmother, also known as Drachyss.
Syldanath, with it’s elven population so decimated, became a haven for fey, avians, giants, and minotaurs. Each species established communities, societies, and even self-government with the assistance of those elves who remained. Their societies became centered on supporting the forest and helping it to grow, more than tripling it’s size over the next century. Karnas did not fight this as the werewolves liked the forest and they were having to deal with repeated raids by kobolds and spiders from the marshlands.
The world of Draken move on from it’s Dark times. A star grew brighter upon the horizon. Unbeknownst to all upon the planet, a crystal egg…on a lonely island…surrounded by storms…matched that star with an inner light of it’s own…
