calendar

The calendar of Darken as established by the nation of Eiredore (more specifically, the Church of Z’handar), consists of 12 months, named for the gods of Darken. Each month consists of five weeks of six days each (30 days). At the end of the year is a five day Festival of Rebirth, the last day of which is the first day of Spring. So the months are as follows:
Sardan-The Month of Winds
Agara-The Month of Rains
Bene-The Month of Birth
Aillur-The Month of Life
Z’handar-The Month of Strength
Phardos-The Month of Fire
Truss-The Month of Change
Dagron-The Month of Harvest
Anarchy-The Month of Chaos
Necros-The Month of Death
Cray’t-The Month of Ice
Uthen-The Month of Earth

Each day of the week is named for one of the dominant cultures on Darken. Starting with, of course, The Day of Man (Manday). The rest of the week is as follows: The Day of Elves (Elfday), The Day of Dwarves (Dwarfday), The Day of Orks (Orkday), The Day of Seafolk (Merday), The Day of Dragons (Dragonday). By order of Z’handar, Dragonday is a day of rest, no one is to work or travel. The myth is that dragons hunt on that day and it is safer to stay inside.

There was significant resistance to this calendar at first, but as new nations were established, they found it easier to adopt the existing method, rather than inventing a new one.
